I have taught and tutored English in Los Angeles since 1983, working privately as well as for companies and colleges, including UCLA and Pierce College, where I teach part-time.  I hold an MA in English from Middlebury College in Vermont, an MS in Education from USC, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Kansas.
I have worked with lyricists, script writers, poets and and students of all ages.  I write and teach Haiku as a form of mental and spiritual clearing, and I write songs on piano & guitar (recorded with players such as Wayne Johnson [MCA &Polygram guitarist,  formerly with Manhattan Transfer], Jimmy Johnson [bassist with James Taylor] and Michael Paulo [saxman with solo albums on Warner Brothers, formerly with Al Jarreau])
have studied Shakespearean plays and acting at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and with Middlebury College's Page and Stage program at Oxford University, in cooperation with the University, the Stratford Shakespeare Center and the Shakespeare Institute.
I feel all these experiences collectively work to round my language sensibilities and to sharpen my critical skills.
